COMMISSION WORK

I appreciate the idea of commissioning a bespoke piece of artwork may seem a little daunting. I have therefore listed answers to some frequently asked questions below. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if I can help with anything further.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Upon enquiry, we will arrange a completely free, no obligation initial consultation. This can either be in person in your home/ intended space, or in my studio in Milton Keynes where we can look at examples of my work “in the flesh” or it could be done virtually - through a phone call or facetime. This initial process includes collaborating together to gather inspiration from your space and previous works of mine to create a visual document incorporating the colours and compositions you have in mind for the work.

The important thing is for me to get a clear idea of your hopes for the commission and where it will be placed. I am very happy to offer guidance on size, colour and design if you are unsure what will work. Gaining an understanding of your space whether through an initial visit or through photos and videos is always really helpful.

I would be happy to incorporate subject matter that is personal or significant to you, for example abstract elements of a particular landscape, sea view, garden or place. Remember, the joy of commissioning an artwork is that no two pieces are alike and you will be receiving a bespoke and completely unique original painting.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

You can expect a 3-month turnaround once your commission has been agreed. However, please do let me know if you need something more urgently and I will always try to help!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

To give an idea of pricing, I have put together the following guide;

18 x 14””  - (45.72 x 35.56cm) - £395 unframed, £425 framed

24 x 20” - (60.96 x 50.8cm) - £525 unframed, £560 framed

36 x 24”  - (91.44 x 60.96cm) - £850 unframed, £895 framed

30 x 48” - (76.2 x 121.92cm) - £1235 unframed, £1300 framed

60 x 40” - (152.4 x 101.6cm) - £1750 unframed, £1850 framed

These prices are based on readily available ‘standard’ canvas sizes. However, the beauty of commissioning a bespoke piece is that it can be made to your exact requirements.

Therefore, if you would like to commission a certain size that isn't on the price list or would like to have a chat regarding what size would best suit your space, I will happily offer guidance and/or send quotes for your specific needs.

Please note, I only work with museum quality canvas, paints and medium and put a great deal of love, time and pride into my work - often spending far longer on works than anticipated, in order to ensure a beautiful end result. Guide prices include UK shipping.

WHEN WOULD I NEED TO PAY?

Once we agree on the size and concept for the painting, I ask for 50% deposit upon initial commission, and the final 50% when the painting is complete.

WILL MY PAINTING BE FRAMED?

I often feel a simple floater frame “finishes” my work nicely. We can discuss if you would like your work to be framed or unframed upon our initial consultation and this will be included in your initial quote.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY PAINTING?

Completed commissions can either be collected directly from my studio in Milton Keynes or they will be tracked and insured to make sure your piece gets to you safely. Shipping within the UK is included in the final price for paintings up to 60 x 40” (152.4 x 101.6cm). Shipping outside the UK or for larger pieces will include an additional cost that will be detailed in your initial quote.

Testimonials.

  • What a talent! Helen spent time taking pictures, looking at the light and even taking into consideration the paint colour of my room. The end result is absolutely stunning. I found the whole process delightful as Helen is conscientious and so easy to communicate with. I would recommend her work in a heartbeat.

  • Helen created a beautiful bespoke piece of art for us. We talked through what our requirements were, she listened and gave some great advice on how to take our ideas and bring them to life. Helen came and checked out where we wanted to hang the art and suggested the most appropriate size to suit the space. The finished work was perfect and everyone who sees it comments on it. We'd definitely recommend Helen for any art projects you may have.

  • I knew I wanted a large abstract piece of art and had an idea of the colour palette but that was it. Helen worked with me to develop some ideas, then did some rough mock ups before we agreed on the final design. The whole process was collaborative. Helen was lovely throughout and I loved the artwork. I highly recommend Helen's work and the way she works.
